Sneak Peek at KronSax’s Upcoming EP: I-KRONIC

If you haven’t heard by now or haven’t been paying attention to the dood KronSax, here’s your wakeup call.  Kron’s been playing more and more shows as both a solo rapper (that also rips a mean sax) and in his band by the same name.  The fire is about to get a whole lot hotter though.  KronSax recently teamed up with BLACKGRITS (Jefferson City, MO) to produce his first solo EP titled “I-KRONIC”.  The EP features five songs written by KronSax and produced by BLACKGRITS.  The EP drops Friday December 21st, 2018 just in time for Christmas but you best bet you can preorder I-KRONIC to reserve your copy before then!

I recently got to sit down with a copy of I-KRONIC for a sneak peek at the new tunes.  Before I get into the deets, let me just preface it with this - it was really funking good and it was excitingly fresh!  Something new!  Something different!  Something that gives you hope that rap isn’t just becoming incomprehensible utterances in triplet form!  FINALLY!

Individually, the songs break out as follows:

1.  KronSax introduces his EP with his first track titled “P. ON THE BEACH”.  Either an unorthodox love song or a modern take on the drink with “basically” the same name, one thing is for sure - the raw, unapologetic lyrics and banging beat is enough to make you want to take your next tinder date to the coast and play with cats in the sand.  Innuendos aside, P on the B is a departure from Kron’s rooted, reggae side and goes straight to the banger category.  Puns aside, Kron displays his ability, yet again, to bring you something totally unexpected from his dreaded, sax-blowing, rhyme-slaying rasta-self.

2.  KronSax keeps the energy rolling on the I-KRONIC EP with his second track “DYNASTY”.  A little more of a soulful vibe than P on the B, track 2 is Kron’s self-affirmation realized through what he does best - making saxy-ass raps.  DYNASTY gives listeners a glimpse into Kron’s personal hurdles of being a rapper who doesn’t fit into your average emcee mold while explaining the drive responsible for his music and growing success today.  Finishing off the song is where KronSax gets the second part of his name with a “dayyyyyyum”-worthy sax solo.

3.  The third track “VIBE” pays tribute to KronSax’s roots in reggae but sticks out from his other previous reggae-esque tracks by narrowing the musical focus to bass and beats (sans your expected rhythm guitar) giving the track VIBE more of a tribal or ethnic...vibe.  Lyrically the song talks about every rapper’s and rasta’s favorite unfertilized and seedless herb, sinsemilla.  If you’re just getting off a long day of work, I might suggest skipping to this song first to relax and really mellow out, man.

4.  The fourth track, “LOST” takes on a somber tone.  The lyrics are personal and heartfelt.  Kron doesn’t leave anything on the table with this one.  His ability to portray the loss of his loved ones hits deep.  Trying to write about it doesn’t compare to actually hearing the emotion Kron has in these lyrics.  Art is supposed to make you feel something.  This is art.

5.  KronSax’s fifth and final track on his EP is the EP’s namesake, “I-KRONIC”.  This is another energy-packed song that will have you bobbing your head up and down in quarter notes while slightly alternating your chin from left to right.  The second verse will get any body part not already moving in action and the chorus will have you singing along in no time.  A complimentary horn riff on top of a hard-hitting beat brings out the best of KronSax in this one.  The takeaway from this song as well as the EP as a whole is simple - remember the name KronSax because he’s just getting started.

Preorders for KronSax’s EP “I-KRONIC” are available at KronSax’s bandcamp.  For $4 you can get five songs that will have you listening on repeat.  For $4 you can give your ears the music they’ve been craving.  For $4 you can own a compilation of music that truly is fresh af.

Check out the tunes and keep an eye and ear out for more from KronSax in the near future - you'll definitely be seeing and hearing more!
